Dr. Gelbort is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology at the University of Texas at Arlington and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.
While at Texas Tech, Dr. Gelbort taught undergraduate classes in psychopathology, served as Staff Psychologist at the Lubbock State School, and provided psychological services to students enrolled in the University and community members. She completed her clinical internship at the North Chicago Veteran's Administration Medical Center in North Chicago, Illinois.
Following internship, Dr. Gelbort was the Staff Psychologist and interdisciplinary team leader at the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center in Chicago. At Chicago-Read, she designed and put in place an inpatient program to assist patients with chronic psychiatric disorders to assist them in returning to community living. Dr. Gelbort was the Psychologist for the inpatient Drug Abuse Program at the Houston Veteran's Administration Medical Center and taught Stress Management and Smoking Cessation Classes at the Sid W. Richardson Institute for Preventive Medicine at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. She has provided psychological services for developmentally disabled adults at Cornerstone Services in Joliet, Illinois for the past ten years.  She joined the IPD staff in May, 2005.
