Dr. Serrato received her M.D. from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. She started her residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, where she served as Chief Resident. She completed her residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics in Madison, WI, where she also completed one year of fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She further specialized in College Mental Health by attending a one year fellowship at The Ohio State University Counseling and Psychological Service in Columbus, OH. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

Dr. Serrato is also Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago and is additionally employed at the University of Illinois at Chicago Counseling Center.

Dr. Serrato treats adults, primarily between the ages of 18 and 65 years old. She has an interest in the treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, women's mental health disorders, and college mental health. She practices both medication management and individual therapy with a psychodynamic approach. Dr. Serrato practices at the Chicago IPD location on a part time basis.
